I don’t think Google is a counterexample to FB in this case. Same problem.
Explain that to the billion people who’d ask why they have to pay for something when FB will give it for free.
Same reason people used taxis with ads playing in them. There is no other viable alternative, especially in the “developing/under-developed” countries where ad-web is better than no-web/expensive-web.
